An Ode to the Stars

What if there were no stars in the night's sky
To navigate our lives by
No constellations for our meditations
As we take our medications
No invitations to dance and sing
Under the moons glow, here below
How would we know what we've missed
Perhaps a stolen kiss from ones love
As we stand a miff
Looking up searching for those twinkling lights above
And of no moon, I dread to think
It's shimmering on the waters, late at night
To help us wish on till the morning dawn
Some tell of places on this earth
That you can almost touch, those stars a right
Late a night
Myself, I've seen the dippers both big and small
And know of the Milky Way
The chocolate ones most of all
So when you look at the night's sky
To the heavens above
With those stars twinkling bright
Think to yourself, I am God's child
And everything will be alright
