An Old Soul

"You are wise beyond your years."
"You are an old soul."
To be an old soul in a young souls body is terrifying,
To know more about life than people in their 40's,
To have seen things that no one deserves to see,
To have an entire childhood ripped away.
To be forced to grow up in a world where you're all alone,
To always be the one taking care of others,
While no one,
Not even yourself,
Can take care of you.
To carry such a burden takes it toll...
Depression, anxiety, addiction, and ptsd,
All side effects of this so called gift.
To watch your mother die at the age of ten,
This is a tragedy, not some fairy tale.
There is no happy ending.
