An Untitled Love Poem

Dawn's Venus have you seen
Of my lover who's gone from me
Morning comes and she must leave
Such is the way of the nighttime
Please, noon's moon no jealousy
But way up there could you seek
Some harkening of my dear dark queen
O'er horizons too far to see
Far too late sweet darkness comes
The maiden stars lighted for her
Voices close and voices far
Nay let them hear our song
Lullaby and love's hard strife
Mortal eyes still so blind
But you and me it seems to be
Forget what so high they need
Rue the fading of the night
Cruel morning comes to steal away thine
Only dreams keep you close beside
When sunrise has taken thine life
Sleep, sleep high cherubim
Needed not your bow so thin
Night time take my heart besides
So ever I could lie dreaming
