Ancestors


We often forget that our names are not our own.

They belong to our ancestors, to their bones.

They felt more, loved more
Wiser were their crones
Temperaments were colder
Taller were their thrones.

We should not deride them, but instead lift,
Ours voices up,
To match their tones
