Angel Knocking

He heard a little knocking
on his door this very morning
A quiet gentle knocking
sounding somewhat like a warning

Knock, knock, knock, knock
then quiet as a clam
knock, knock, knock, again
gentle as a lamb

As he hobbled toward the foyer
down the hall to the front door
He thought he heard a voice speak
from the crack above the floor

The voice said, soft and sweetly,
"I will carry you away
But leave the door unopened
and you'll have to find your way"

He knew he had no choice
today was his last day
So he opened up the door and smiled
and she carried him away
