Angels And Humans

Some believe in angels
with soft, kind eyes,
gentle guardians
of beautiful skies.

Some believe in angels
that smite the evil from the Earth.
Heaven's warriors with the power of God,
soulless and without mirth.

I believe in angels
with broken, tattered wings.
They never seem to be the ones
for whom humanity sings.

I believe in humans,
who hurt and feel and hope.
So fragile and wonderful,
always climbing the slope.

I believe in humans,
and I believe in you.
And I hope your faith in God
is faith to give me, too.
