Anorexia

There once was a girl with long brown hair
Who ate nothing just air
Her body all worn down and her face pale
Her bones sticking out and chipped nails
She pushed away food that came to her lips
She wanted a skinny waist and nice hips
As her thinning body showed in her reflection
All she saw was imperfection
She wanted to be like those magazine girls
All skinny pretty and teeth as white as pearls
Her family and friends knew something was wrong
She knew too but she had to stay strong
No chocolate, the calories, the weight she would gain
It hurt but beauty meant pain
The pills she took that made her skinny and pretty
But why were people looking at her with pity
Was she not skinny enough, was she fat?
Why were people saying that she had ‘that’
Her thoughts consumed her the darkness creeping in
Her trembling body and sickly pale skin
Why oh why
As she sat and cried
The stigma, the expectation society makes
Made her body, health and life at stake
Her hair turned brittle hard and dry
She wanted to stop she had to try
You have to be pretty, you have to be thin
You have to be curvy with white pearly skin
You can't be too thin, you can't be too fat
Don't make up excuses don't say that
Eat less, eat more food
We’re doing it for your own good
The girl lose hope in the words they said
She contemplated as she laid in bed
She was too ugly, she was too fat
Deep down she knew that she had ‘that’
The food she forced down made her sick
Vomiting it all out and watching time tick
There use to be a girl with long brown hair
Who was nothing but air
