Are We There Yet?

Stars illuminate the sky
As we drive up the noiseless road.
Houses vanish
Like a magician's coin.
"Are we there yet?" somebody whispers.

I see the calming gleam of the stoplight
And soon hear snoring.
"Someone is getting some shuteye!"
I report playfully.
"Are we there yet?" somebody whispers.

Soon enough, there's not even stoplights.
We're so far out!
There's only the soft glimmer of headlights,
Like a nightlight in a room.
"Are we there yet?" somebody whispers.

We reach a small town,
The one our cabin lives in.
We recognize it at once.
"Are we there yet?" somebody whispers.

"Yes. We're there."
