Artifact

Resting in a glass case,
delicately,
hung from a golden chain.
Day after day.
Year after year.
Still.
Ticking.
Away.
Hands spinning endlessly.
Longer than anyone alive today.
Through 5 generations.
And both world wars.
Traveled around the world.
By sky, land, and sea.
Still ticking.
on
and
on
For 160 years
And not once.

It stopped.
