As a Black Woman

To know me is to love me.
Being a black woman in the working class force
Is definitely a decision and a choice.

I am not ugly, crook it, or trash.
I don't do drama or backlash.
I do not need a status
To be considered the baddest.

By baddest, I mean
I stand up for myself
I take none. I give none.
I am a beam.
I can be in front, back, or in-between.

I take pride in my stride,
As I continue this life ride.
Get on board and let's unite,
Because as I see it, we're being taken pint by pint
And as black women, STUPID we ain't.
