As I Lay Down at Night
As I lay down at night to meet my dream,
Relaxed by sweet sounds sent by eventide,
You infiltrate my mind to an extreme.
An inundation of unease collides
With my mentality as I perceive
The obligation onward. I fear the
Inevitability, as the eve
Of youth is not so eager to complete.
To work, to drudge-to pay a price worth more
Than I shall bargain for at my young life-
Well that is proof enough to fear the chore.
But I must be prepared for coming strife,
So daylight soon to come will not prevent
Thoughts of maturity, but find content.
