As I Try to Become

Let the water soak me,
And the butterfly touch my skin,
As I try to become
The center of the Earth.

Let the fire burn,
And the wind blow my hair,
As I try to become
The roots of the grass.

Let the ground crumble,
And the trees sway with strength,
As I try to become
The heart of the storm.

Let my mother love me,
And the moon shine upon my face,
As I try to become
The brightest of the stars.
