As Simple As

A single tear I shed, as the guns blast overhead
Lost in a memory as time stands still in this single moment
Empty words of comfort can't penetrate the shield
I wish that I knew how to let my feeling shows
I want so bad to join you as we lay you among the rows
I'll move on and no one will ever know the price I paid to let you go
Please forgive me, I just want to forget
How much I loved you. How much it hurts
Sleep now, you've earned your rest
I'll hold you silently in my heart these years that we're apart
Know that I don't linger over memories not because I didn't care
But because it hurts to much to bear
Someday I may take out the memories, hold them in my mind
Smile softly and let them shine
Until than I release you
Sometimes it's as simple, and sad, as saying "good-bye"
