Ashes Ashes We All Fall Down

Feet thump against concrete
Shouts fade into uncomfortable silence
A quick glance back leaves me gasping for air
Sweat drips into my eyes, stinging as they fall
One in front of the other until it’s not
Everything spins as my head hits the ground
An alarm blares, reminding everyone of nothing
Too late for second chances
Reds and oranges swirl in my eyes
It burns throughout my bones
FIRE FIRE FIRE I scream inside
All I know is scorching flames
My eyes shut as my skin melts off
Cool, empty bliss soothes the worry
I float away from the heat forever
