At A Crossroad

Drip, drip, drip

One step forward, two steps back
Crushing the leaves scattered across the floor
Ground into a million pieces

Drip, drip, drip

Victim of their own needs
Setting up their own demise
Unable to control what was going on
As they withered away

Drip, drip, drip

How is it that the things that one loves the most,
Are often the things that tear us apart?
Limb from limb,
The numbing pain
Spreading through my veins
Reaching my heart

Drip, drip

Footsteps echoing along the path
Passing by behind me
Oblivious,
Wondering what the weather was like outside
Not knowing about the storm raging inside

Drip, drip

Walking to the edge of the sidewalk
The sky crying
The clouds sighing
The cars roaring
My heart pounding

Drip

One step forward, two steps back
The crushed, brown mess
Racing me to the edge
My indecisive skin
Longing for closure
