At Present

There were times I couldn't imagine saying
"I love you"
Until I fell in love with you.
There were times I couldn't imagine being without you,
But the thing I feel most between us is love-
Even if I wade up to my neck trying to reach you,
it can't ever overwhelm me.
Even when being apart overwhelms me,
and loneliness clouds my night sky,
There still is our love,
stuck still,
and crunchy,
like peanut butter and jelly.
There are times now,
I can't even imagine saying,
"I don't love you."
It would be untrue.

This Poems Story

Similarly to "Giving It Up," I wrote this in my little trip circle with my friends. My friend Brandon Shaw started this one, writing the first three lines, and then passed it off to me, eagerly. This was on my same train of thought about my ex, but I wrote this poem before "Giving It Up," which, kind of makes sense.
