At the Water Well

She jumped over the rainbow
Leaving behind all her baggage
As the water smoothed over, some women
Sat at the bottom of the steps
God’s living water went through their fingertips
On the other side of the rainbow, storm water dripped
Pooled into drops of the Earth’s rain
She let her calling soak onto her skin
Storms meant the Sun would be called back again
She could see nothing but the walls of water
Her isolation felt a lot like drowning
She gurgled with stress and choked on her demons
The water well is not just for the hierarchy of Holiness
Come all thee shattered and thee lost
The tribe of fellow broken-hearted Lovers awaits
The women on the steps called out to her Spirit,
“Come sit with us, Darling of Love, for
This Life is truly beautiful,”
And that was all they had to say
Before she joined them at the well of God’s living water
