Augie Doggies Last Dance

Today I spoke, at the funeral of a friend.
Not sure what I would say… I glanced around the room.
From what I could see… You touched many lives,
None… Quite like mine.
As I started to speak… My lips began to quiver,
Tears filled… My now swollen eyes.
Farewell, I said… To my fond friend.
Farewell, I said… Again
It all began, in childhood days,
When I couldn’t find, a friend.
A bond began then, that lasted,
Thru all these years.
We laughed and played… Hot summer days,
Morn, till darkness fell.
From time to time, we’d disagree,
But soon… It would pass.
For it matters not… Our ups and downs…
Bumps or bruises… We shared, along the way.
What matters is, through thick and thin
You were always there, for me… And I for you.
The roads we traveled, were different highways,
But we, were never far apart.
I never thought, this day would come,
All good things must end.
So as I stand here, all alone,
Thiers one thing left, for me to say.
Farewell, I said… To my fond friend.
Farewell, I said… Again
