August Afternoon

The streets have an invisible gray center
Precise movements of air
Move between buildings
And reaffirm my attachment
To those blocks
The brights sunlight
Stranded in my memory
Just as the image of your
Liquid brown hair winnowing
Between my fingers
In the silent light
Arrests my future
With such excruciating pleasure
