Autism – For Brandon & Levi

Rocking back and forth,
talking to myself.
If my surroundings do not stay quiet,
everything will go to hell.
I'm trying to understand everyone around me.
To my face I throw my hands,
frustrated from difficulty.
The music is too loud,
but its only on setting two.
I run and hide under the bed,
inflicting another bruise.
Mommy cries and Daddy tries to assure her that I'm alright.
Sometimes I fight against them for hours at a time.
