Autumn Breaths and Fall Deaths

So now you’re gone
And I am here alone
It’s almost dawn
And I’m sitting in our place
Our place
Where we fell in love
Underneath the tall sugar maple tree
Where we were the only people in the world
We were happy
As happy as we could be knowing...
Knowing you were at deaths door,
You wouldn’t make it to October
Our favorite month
You’d miss the leaves
You’d miss the cool breeze
you always said reminded you of me
With every breath you took
You knew it could be your last
And one day,
It was.
The cold wind whispers your name
As I wipe the tears from my eyes
It tells me you are safe and happy
But I am broken
Sitting alone in our place.
