Autumn Magic

Summer quickly turned to fall,
the leaves turned red and brown.
The autumn sun soon baked them all
and dried them on the ground.

They gathered underneath the trees
and covered the flowerbed.
They floated carelessly in the breeze;
they were everywhere we tread.

And Daddy raked them into piles
that crunched beneath our feet.
We brought him leaves, he gave us smiles,
Until the job was complete.

Then something magical occurred~
his eyes sparkled like a child.
He ran toward us without a word
and jumped in the huge leaf pile!
