Autumn’s Song

By

Harsh winds howling,
Snow on the ground,
Nature fighting back
Against man's brutality bound
Up in his disrespect
For life and grace.
Blustery fury
Nature's world becomes a solitary place
Unforgiving
With dark dreadful days
Of gray skies and the solemnity
Of scattered wind-swept displays
Of what was once Spring's beauty
Now lost and gone
Scattered haphazardly
Across chilled leaf-covered lawn.
Cries echoing
Among shivering shadows long,
Emptiness -- ghostly beauty,
Autumn's song.
