Awakened by the Chirps of Birds

The chirps of the birds outside my window
Are a call to awaken the dead hope within me,
A call to see the glory of the sun
That is concealed by agonizing heartache.

The chirps of the birds outside my window,
Are awaiting me to rise above my lowly strength.
They are calling me to open my eyes
And see how beautiful life is out in open skies,

They want me to join them on a journey,
To call others into the shinning light,
To love and live in the presence of warm beauty,
From the depths and dark shadows of the night.

They say that other birds are expecting to meet me
To teach me how to fly in never-ending harmony,
To join them in the shade of a sycamore tree at midday
And encourage me to fly fearlessly when the sun fades away,

The chirps of the birds outside my window
Remind me that life exists,
And to lift my gaze toward a love that endures
Even when dark times persist.

This Poems Story

Transcendent to its theme of nature, this poem speaks words of sorrow and hopelessness, but in representation of life in and of itself it also connotes refound hope and happiness that is temporarily masked by a blackened cloud. I believe that written words can express, ideally, any feeling that may seem ineffable and they have the potential to heal us in times when the heart is weakened and fails to comply with our desire to move on from affliction.
