Back in My Cage

I want those shackles off,
I need the strength to break them,
Break them before they break me
Why am I standing here?
I'm in this shadow, I see the sunlight,
It's so bright, so warm.

Yet I can't escape
Escape this cold, dark shade,
Step by step towards the light, Im running.
Running as fast as my feet,
My small feet will take me.
Why is it still so far away, I've been running for hours.
Running for days
Running and running and nothing,
Nothing seems to phase it, the dark isn't fading.

Not even a slight dimmer
Its like no matter how fast,
No matter how far i run
I haven't even made a dent.
In this shade, Im chasing after the sun,
And the sun is winning
And once again, it seems i have lost.
