Bare

In the midst of an all too common sensation of perplexity
Pondering the meaning of it all, searching the heavens for resolve
I am bare, my heart like an open wound, fresh and raw

Inhale the fragrance left behind from the tempest
Only the silence of the night & the darkness of the sky are here now
I am bare, salt in my mouth and fire in my chest, jagged and torn

Irrational fear of time and space takes hold violently
Shattered hopes & deserted dreams clash as they fall into
unfamiliar shadows
I am bare, unembellished and unadorned, vacant and cold

Stripped of poise and peace, serenity escapes me
Left to the disarray of my emotions and the echo of my internal ache
I am bare, exposed and defenseless, alone.

Fresh and raw, I am bare.
Jagged and torn, I am bare.
Vacant and cold, I am bare.

Alone.

I am bare.
