Be to Yourself

With empathy and admiration, but never pity
Lend your soul a hand and an ear through life's
nitty gritty
Applaud yourself for your own motivation and
resourcefulness
Feel for yourself how you'd feel for the less
fortunate

With quiet confidence in how you carry yourself,
How you express your mind, how you move, how
you dress
Treat yourself like you'd treat someone you're
trying to impress

Drink more water, get more rest
Soothe your body and shush yourself when you
protest
Lie down, move around,
And when you can, just sit still
Tend to yourself the way you'd tend to the ill

With acceptance and appreciation
Afford yourself the benefit of the doubt
There's a strength in your eyes
And a beauty the world could not survive without
Have faith in your capability to be passionate and
direct
Look at yourself the way you'd look at someone
you respect
