Beast Tamer

I never wanted to be a beast tamer
But you promised to be nice
You said you were evolving
But a snake is still a snake
No matter how much skin it leaves behind
You bit my hand after every feast
Coiled around my body every night
What is a beast tamer
Without her beast?
She is lonely
But much less bruised
And much less bitten
