Because It Is Art

Because it is art
I burn the midnight oil
Because it is art
I dream while others toil
Because it is art
I shatter disbelief
I grow roots in your concrete
Because this is art
I question your beliefs
catch scattered sparks of your disillusion
cast tattered shards of my own confusion
I render my disbelief
useless
I tend to your conceit
fruitless
Because of this art
I reclaim what I have lost
Because this is art
I gladly pay what this costs
And if the weakness comes and tries to trample me again
I'll cry out!
I do this!
Because it is art!
