Bedeviled

Bad things were always lurking in the shadows
A sordid past relentless as a blood hound
seemingly kept dogging him around
Threatening mail from his numerous legal battles
Repo eyes inconspicuously waiting
for a chance to snatch his car or bling
Big trouble was fast approaching, furtive glances in the rearview
Gambling debts had him trapped, cocooned in silk-woven vig
all bets were off --- on every agreement he had reneged
And Ms. Vesuvius was now rumbling, he had to flee before she blew

He was bedeviled
He was troubled, man
He was really catching it
Like a thief without a plan

He was bedeviled
He had so many demons chasing after him
Before his new batch of woes
Chances of him surviving was already slim

He was bedeviled
He was cursed, man
His sins had finally caught up to him
Now Satan had his soul in hand
