Behind Her Smile
Behind her smile are many secrets
But she will never tell
Kept far away from her mind's eye
For if not, she will die
The pain she will not bare.she does not dare
Stand firm in the façade to go on
Behind those eyes are the lies
Delusions to carry on
When will she ascend to the place she belongs?
What will it take to move on?
A voice.a word.a song
For all the lies are no more
Dreams are waiting to be claimed.
They will be heard
Beams of light from her face.
Dreams will help her take her place

This Poems Story
This is a poem about rediscovering oneself-finding hope and dreams again after a lifetime of disappointments and hurtful events. I am a mother of three sons: Ryan, age twenty; Chris, age fifteen; and Scotty, age ten. Scotty has angelman syndrome. I operate an early intervention agency from my home. I have ten employees and we provide ongoing service coordination throughout Erie County in New York State.
