Behind the Glasses

She wanted to fit in,
She longed of being apart of the in crowd.
She dreamed of walking with popular girls
and talking to dreamy boys.
Instead of attending lunch with her classmates,
she sat eating her plain lunch in a bathroom stall.
She walks home alone,
in fear of riding the bus and getting teased.
But then she realized,
she would never trade her enlarged glasses and high-rise pants
for a ditzy smile and an artificial attitude,.
She is unique,
She is distinctive in her own way,
even though others see her as a "geek".
