Behind the Walls

The night when I last fell asleep

With you right next to me was bliss

The gods moved clouds and spun the earth

And pulled the sun too close to miss

At first I thought, and then I sank

Inside my romping mind I'd fled

But then I looked at you and drowned

Inside, my mind stood still, and bled

And right away then, in a flash

I watched your innocence--at rest

Cherubic creatures can't compound

The pain and joy I knew you'd lend

As such my life, won't be the same

From moment present to the end

A thousand deaths, cannot amass

The loss I'd feel, when you'd wake

My second gone, my darling roused

Our time as one, never the same

And while you dreamt, I watched you cry

A round tear rolling down your face

I kissed you one last time good-bye

And then the sun took you away
