Being Good and Bad

Being Good and Bad

The Good is something I pursue
Furiously, as if insane.
The Bad is what I most eschew,
Shuddering, as if in pain.

I deem Bad what you deem Good,
And thus we are opposed.
Enter my mental neighborhood
And you’re likely to get hosed!

And yet these things can only be
Bound up with local, village views –
As mice and tomcats disagree
In virtually everything they choose.

This is no way to live a life –
Carving ourselves away from Bad!
Instead of succumbing to ignorant strife,
Let's not subtract, but only add.
