Belladonna

Floating through the sweet lagoon
My mind it hangs on you.
Within the pleasurable recess
The venom seeks a coup

For as an ethereal dream
my solitude you vanquish,
My mind a Shade that never
braved to touch the Light… I languish.

Will I ever cease to dream
Of all that could never be?
To sit and dwell on what haunts so well
My mind to you devotee

Could there ever come another
To mitigate your wicked deed,
Which captivates my conscious
And never from it shall be freed?

I lay awake, never to partake
In my maddening reverie,
To pray that in a coming day
Another assuages my penury.
