Beloved Aunt

Beloved Aunt

Magical wand of charm
she lets loose
to captivate my mind
like a hound.
She blent and made me
her own, not letting me loose,
all for love’s sake …
for though born of her sister,
another womb,
to her I belonged,
maternal instincts I forever keep.

She was a merchant
and mother’s mentor in
self-same line of trade,
her merchandise neatly set
to appeal eyes of consumer.
The origin of this heritage:
grand mother Osikpor.
I will walk her path
all the days of my life.

She was a leader
because bold, forceful, insightful;
charismatic & patient.
She gives order and no one
says no, I, in absolute obedience; and
faithful because I believed in her.
