Betty

Love is when a child sits,
on the lap of her grandmother,
who has lost the man she'd always love
and her granddaughter speaks of
young innocence at five years old
telling her in the best she can
not to cry
he'll always be in her heart
always stand by her side
Love is when the child of five
turns eighteen
but kissing her grandmother on the forehead
instead of always sitting on her lap
in the grey coffin
she lies

The once little girl, tries not to cry
but realizes the words once said
to the woman she's loved all
this time

She'll always be in her heart
stand by her side
try not to cry
