Birdie Birdie

Birdie Birdie come back and play
Birdie Birdie please don't fly away
Birdie Birdie I love you so
Birdie Birdie please don’t leave me alone

Alone under the graying sky I perch
Upon the lonely branch of Birdie Birdie’s birth
Birdie Birdie leaves me to scavenge
As Birdie Birdie sings pleasant airs to the branches
I watch the colored leaves tumble down
The grass is dying all around

Birdie Birdie come back and play
I am not yet ready to sleep away the days
Birdie Birdie I love you so
Birdie Birdie please don’t leave me alone

Birdie Birdie it’s dark and cold
That’s why you left me alone.
Come back, please I beg you to
Birdie Birdie I need you
More than the nuts I’ve tucked away
I need you to stay

Birdie Birdie how shall I know to rise again
If I cannot hear your wings
Will I even wake after the long winter slumber
If you are not here to sing your timbre?
Shall I dig my grave tonight,
As I watch you fly out of sight?
