Birth

Open wide, like a flower inside
Relax and stop fighting
The pressure
Let it flow over your soul
Breathe deep Breathe out
It might take a long time
Rest in the middle
Let it subside
Enjoy the waves deep inside
Rolling, Rushing, Pulsing and Pressing
Pushing down
Pushing out
Automatic, out-of-control
Dance, move, change your position
Let the pulses bring you focus
Open up, just like a flower
Slowly, gently, just let go
Not fighting, not screaming
With love for the end
It won’t be long
Tighter and stretched out
Impossible feat
Wait
Breathe
Sigh
Relief
A miracle it’s over
Love like a shower, rushes over me

This Poems Story

When I was preparing for birth I had to help myself remember how to let go of control. Here is a poem that gives words to the conversation in my head through the four births I was able to live through.
