Bittersweet Sunset

Sleep comes and goes like waves in the ocean
Pink light shines down from melancholy skies
Memories filled with golden emotions
Night arrives in a beautiful disguise

For the warm wind touches my cheek gently
I always seek what I cannot achieve
Flowers bloom across the fields quite densely
The plans that I carry, I can’t conceive

Time passes by like the day’s in July
Trying again seems old now like lying
Fireflies zoom around through the blue sky
Lights out as soon as the moon starts rising

As the car rumbles underneath my seat
For arriving home now is bittersweet
