Black and Blue

Dark skies stretched overhead
I watch as a lonesome dove danced in the wind
What did I do to deserve this dread?
I wish I could put it all to an end
When did the clouds draw near?
When did you stop calling me my dear?

When did the lipstick smears change to tears?
When we touched it was as if there was a spark
It has been a thousand years
Now when you touch me there's only a mark
I wish I could soar away from you like the white dove
Instead I lie here waiting for the real love

The makeup can hide what's on the outside
So only you know of what you do
It seems like yesterday I became your bride
But today it's as if I am all black and blue
My life has passed me by
But time it refuses to fly

Over and over again you apologize
You are like a slave to the bottle
I pray one day I can believe your lies
But tonight you go full throttle
Paradise finally knocks on my door
I answer the call while I'm lying on the floor
