Black Is Beautiful

Why does the color of my skin disgust you?
Why does the slang in my voice make you feel uncomfortable
Even my curves and hips are a disgrace
I'm not as attractive as the Caucasian female you so admire
Just because my skin is infused with rich melanin
You say I'm not at your level of satisfaction
"Look at the girl with the afro", she can't sit with us
They would say and giggle to themselves
The complexities of my complexion will never be understood
by those who just look at me with hatred within.
My skin has been ostracized and made fun of to the point
I had to just stop and think
I just say to myself, baby girl embrace your beauty
Your rich dark skin is stunning
Your African traits is a wonderful sight to see
Let your melanin pop and shine, you are beautiful outside and within
Forget about those who thinks the pigment of your skin is an issue
Black is magical, black is beautiful, black is me !
