Black Lives Matter

Black lives matter.
A phase that rings in my head
Most don't understand
Other don't take the time to
The time to see what it really means

Black lives matter
A movement
Not just any movement
A movement
Where we give honor
Honor to those who have lead us over decades
Honors to ones who have lost their lives fighting for what's right
Honor to the upcoming community

Black lives matter.
A progressive era in time
The time that i can look back;
share my own history with others
A chance to grow and appreciate.

Black lives matter.
What is black lives matter to me is
waking up in the morning and going to a diverse school
living a life that could only have been provided by those before me.
knowing my ancestors are looking down and seeing the process that
they have been urging for.
That is what Black lives matter is.
