Black Man (Inspired by Ahmaud Arbery and When They See Us)

Black Man
Shot twice,
Three corners down
From a white house.
Black Man
Sit tight,
Three corners down
In a white house.
Black man
Hold steady,
Three streets shy
Of the jailhouse.
Black man
Sing ready,
Three streets south
In the prison system.
Black man
Get ready,
Three seconds steady
In the shackles.
Black man
Sheer terror,
Three seconds born
In mental desecration.
Black man
Not broken. We built it this way.
