Black River

Above the falls of Black River
Crystalline ice cracks and shatters the stillness
Penetrating the leafy forest floor

Within the primordial vestiges
Abstract shadows emerge
And converge to form painted voices

That speak softly in
A transparent world
Weaving the silence

Dark into dark, light into light
A forbidding world
Of mysterious illusions

A seductive prison
A frozen still life
A life sentence

Till the end of time.
