Blind and Alone

In this blackness that surrounds me
Dark as night at the midnight hour
I reach towards the faraway light
To attempt to embrace its power

Fearful, cold, blind, and alone
I crawl, crying..I am lost
From the outside world,
As an outcast, I had long ago been tossed

Beyond the dark, lies a safe, warm place
Just barely out of my reach
A bountiful garden, where lives connect
And there are lessons of love to teach

Outstretched open arms, longing for affection
Take my hands gently into yours
Feel the warmth radiating from my heart
Help me open this dungeon's locked door

The light I search for, out in the world
Has always been trapped inside my heart's core
Use your strength and love to release it
And I shall be blind and alone, nevermore
