The loveliest sight that earth can hold
Is reflected trees on water pool
When rains have come and gone away
Down by the countryside.
The loveliest pearls that ever were
Do on rain-showered branches grow
In each a million rainbow shines
To tremble, as a lover's hope
When love's supine.
The loveliest peace that skies can bear
Are white clouds on a blue somewhere
With dark trees flanked on either side
An eagle framed in wildest flight.
The visible Paradise on high
Fancies of the poet's mind.
