Blue Bird

Shots ring through the forest
Over and over they pierce the silence
Followed by a deathly scream
Of Earth's most precious life
Blue bird is perched on a high branch
He hears the bullets in the air
Yet sits unmoving
Still singing his melodic song
Blasts grow sharper and nearer
Blue bird distracts himself
For if the attention is toward the gun
His song will cease to flow
Hunters directly below him
The blue bird sings a melody
Calming and peaceful
Rejecting unhealthy souls
Living life in a constant battle
With fear and pain and loneliness
Blue bird grows stronger and wiser
Knowing his song is true
