Bluffs

Bluffs

Oh why do you wander the bluffs mother dear?
Every dusk every stormrise and morn?
I’m looking for the dolphins, love
Who danced when you were born

And did you find them mother?
Wheeling side by side in waves?
Oh not today my darling son
Today was grey and they were gone

But will you find them, mother, in a happy happy sea?
Oh yes I will be looking til
My eyes are shut and still

So, do you find them now, my mother?
Do you find any at all?
Why yes I do, they dance and play
While I stand watching from the shore

Oh mother where has my father gone?
Does he sit with the Lord above?
Why no my son he lies in the sea
With the dolphins he dances in the sea
All his ashes live in that green sea
But his heart remains with thee
