Bolder Lies

"I'm okay,"
Is what I say
Through my teeth everyday
Simply to keep my emotions at bay.
My smile is deceitful
And my laughter a lie,
But laughter alone is what hinders me from a cry.
Happiness is what I feign,
Though there's really nothing to gain
What's the purpose of joy if it's all in vain?
Stress and anxiety
I'm nothing but worry
One day my lies will catch up to me
And when they do I'll be ready.
I really shouldn't be surprised
There's nothing left of me to hide
My honesty slowly dies
And all that's left are bolder lies.
